the core of our curriculum is our Mind-Body Medicine Professional Training Program where health professionals learn scientific basis and practical tools of mind-body medicine. The model is used for self-care and stress management, including all chronic illnesses, comprehensive and integrative approaches to the prevention and treatment of cancer, heart disease, chronic pain, depression, PTSD, diabetes, asthma and HIV/AIDS, and work with populations affected by war, abuse, terrorism and other forms of trauma. Thousands of health professionals and community leaders have come through the first phase of this training in which they learn the science and experience the power of various mind-body techniques and approaches (self–expression through words, drawings, and movement, meditation, biofeedback, yoga, etc.) in themselves, in a supportive, small group setting. Many continue with our Advanced Training and Practicum where they learn to lead the same kind of psychological self-care group in which they previously participated, and get help in making the model part of their work. The Center’s Mind-Body Medicine Certification Program is becoming the gold standard in mind-body medicine, and is designed for graduates of the Advanced Training who want to take this work to the highest level. Our approach is being used in hundreds of hospitals, clinics, and private practices and is being integrated into the curriculum in a number of medical schools.
